“This version of the Belgian Strong turned out better than we hoped. We lowered the alcohol to 8% and reduced the caramel malt just a bit. It’s a smoother, toastier, softer Belgian Strong. The alcohol warmth is still there but complements the beer perfectly. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
More good news
If that wasn’t enough good news… our Lune Noire collaboration beer with Barn Hammer has won the silver medal in the Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale category. As many of you know, we’ve been brewing in Barn Hammer’s space so a collaboration beer was a natural outcome. Barn Hammer also took home a bronze for their beer, Le Sneak Belgique.
Our awards are a direct outcome of the Manitoba brewing community’s unique and supportive spirit – we couldn’t have done it without you. These awards also reveal a trend in national recognition for Manitoban beer. Last year, Torque brought home a bronze for their Red Line IPA and in 2016, Half Pints won a Gold for their St. James Pale Ale.
This was our first year submitting entries to the Awards but it won’t be the last. We can’t help but feel optimistic about the future. This is only the start.
We'd like to thank the city of Halifax and the organizers of the Canadian Brewing Awards for putting on such a fantastic event. Your amazing hospitality did not go unnoticed. Cheers!
