    About Baltic Porters
The porter style of beer originated in London in the 18th century – named after the street and dock workers who loaded ships destined for Baltic ports in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, and Russia. The Baltic Porter style was born when brewers in these Baltic ports began to brew their own porters in colder conditions with local brewing techniques, heavily influenced by German bottom fermentation.

This deceptively smooth lager bridges the gap between the rich stouts of fall and the light mouthfeel of summer lagers. As you may know, the two major categories of beer styles are ales and lagers based on the yeast used and its corresponding fermentation temperature. What many are surprised to learn is that not all lagers are light in appearance or modest in flavour.⁣

Our Baltic Porter is a great example of this as it pours a deep, rich brown and opens with aromas of coffee, nuts, and toast followed by coffee, sweet malt, and roasted malt flavours.⁣
